What is the Advanced Learner Program?

The Early Learner Program provides services in our center, your home, or a combination of both. We help improve early communication (asking for wants and needs) and teach pre-academic skills and daily living skills (e.g., brushing teeth and toilet training).  Additionally, children can learn foundational skills for interacting with others, like following instructions, playing alongside other children,, showing interest in others, and early developmental independent play skills.

Who does the Advanced Learner Program Serve?

The Early Learner Program provides services to children who require help developing early life skills and have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or another developmental disorder. Most of the children we work with are between 2 and 10 years old. We support children with different abilities, including those who may sometimes have minor challenges like tantrums.

What Treatment Approach is Used?

We use evidence-based strategies to teach a variety of skills. Trained therapists implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) procedures based on the science of behavior. Programs take place across settings ranging from individualized work at a table to naturalistic play interactions with adults and/or peers.  We continuously monitor progress throughout the program.  Once your child masters skills, they are practiced periodically to make sure your child maintains them. Your child will practice skills in different settings to ensure the skills occur in a variety of environments and with a variety of people.  Caregivers and members of our team attend regularly scheduled meetings to assess the child's progress and develop measurable goals.  Our therapists maintain ongoing contact with caregivers between goal periods to discuss the child's progress and address questions.

What Type of Services are Offered?

The Advanced Learner Program offers a continuum of services including evaluation, center-based intervention, home- and community-based program development, and school consultation. The number of weekly, center-based hours depends on the needs of the child and scheduling availability.
